Vargtimen
Minneriket's debut album Vargtimen was written and recorded during the winter of 2014/2015, while the lyrics consists of material dating back to 2007. The album released June 21st 2015.
Intended as a clean slate after the success with Blodsgard and dark ambient music, Stein Akslen wanted to go back to the roots of Norwegian black metal and make a rough, icy cold album consisting of walls of sound and sonic soundscapes.
Doing everything as a one-man project, Stein plays all instruments on the recording, wrote all the songs and mixed and produced the album himself for that really authentic atmosphere needed to present Minneriket as something new and a force to be reckoned with.
Teaming up with Christophe "The Lord of Logos" Szpajdel, who previously did work for the legendary Norwegian black metal band Emperor, to create the iconic Minneriket logo was a way for Stein to honor the visual aesthetics and traditions of the genre while still moving forward and cultivating something new.
Vargtimen was released through Akslen Black Art Records on CD and cassette tape. A very limited edition of the cassette tape was released in antique wooden boxes which included black and white feathers, dirt from a graveyard, authentic human remains and carved runes was sold out the same day the pre-orders opened.
